Bystander Film Premiere & Art Showcase To Raise Awareness For Those Dealing With Sexual Trauma and Suicide

July 16 07:02 2019

LOS ANGELES, CA – July 15, 2019 – On July 20, 2019, the film premiere of Bystander, along with an art showcase and Gala event, will take place at the East Angel. The critically-acclaimed, avante garde short film was directed by scholar and filmmaker Dominic Guidry, who created the film to raise the level of discourse surrounding sexual trauma and suicide. Victims of sexual assault are ten times more likely to attempt suicide than others, and the number rises even more in the LGBTQ community, making awareness of the issue important, especially in light of all the sexual assault cases that have come out in recent years.

“I made Bystander with a goal to accurately portray the feelings one goes through when dealing with sexual assault. My hope is that the film, and this event, can help others dealing with the issue so they know they are not alone and are able to see hope in their future.”

The black tie event at East Angel will also include live music, dance, costuming, painting, art performances, speakers, and a Q & A, to showcase the different ways people deal with pain. There will be a red carpet, drinks, hors d’oeurvers, and a gala event afterward.
